"TPS PREPARE GATE AUTOMATION IN THE TERMINAL"

Surabaya - The flow of containers through the Surabaya Container Terminal (TPS) ahead of Eid has increased dramatically compared to the previous year which was recorded at 463,974 TEUs until April 2019, an increase of 3.84% compared to the same period the previous year which was 446,819 Teus. This gain was obtained from the flow of international containers up to April 2019, up by 3.30% compared to the previous year, which amounted to 427,276 TEUs, and the flow of domestic containers recorded at 36,698 Teus increased 10.62% compared to the previous year period.

Various efforts to improve facilities have been attempted by TPS, where recently TPS is also preparing to improve facilities at the Gate, namely Gate Automation. Gate Automation is the process of "in gate" and "out gate" independently by the truck driver.

Gate Automation in ports is one of the recommendations from the central government to position Indonesia's Ease of Doing Business ranking from 73 to 43 from 190 countries based on World Bank release in 2018. This Gate Automation will be applied to export and import activities

Where service users must first book receipt or booking of container picking through the Clique247 online application, after that the truck driver comes to the terminal by carrying the driver ID card that is used to make transactions in the gate and out gate.

In supporting this Gate automation project, TPS will do several things, namely:

  1. Add an exception area after in gate export, as a place to repair data for trucks that are constrained during the in gate process and as a queue for trucks before entering into full blocks;
  2. Installation of pre in gate inspection for import, which functions to check the booking status of trucks coming to the terminal, where only trucks with active booking status are allowed to enter;
  3. Changing the import truck waiting room into an exception area as the truck queue before entering the full block

Located at the Shangrilla Hotel Ballroom, on Tuesday (21/5), TPS invited several stakeholders including Customs, Port Authority, Pelindo III, forwarding, import / export companies, Trucking, Association and Tanjung Perak organda, to provide initial socialization regarding Gate This automation.

On this occasion, TPS Operations Director Bambang Hasbullah said that this gate automation was one of the efforts made by TPS to improve its facilities. "At the moment we start with socialization first to the stakeholders and the Go Live target in December 2019," said Bambang.
