BUFFER AREA

ANTICIPATION OF LOADING THE LOAD BIDDING WIDTH,

TPS ADD BUFFER TRUCK AREA

Surabaya (5/4) - Amid the corona virus pandemic (VIRUS COVID-19), Surabaya Container Terminal (TPS) continues to operate 24 hours to ensure logistics supplies in East Java run smoothly. The flow of international containers at the TPS in April 2020 was recorded at 107,227 TEUs, an increase of 1% over the same period in the previous year.

In the midst of the COVID-19 pademic, the loading and unloading flow is predicted to increase, by 1% in 2020 compared to 2019 and the peak will occur in the month of Ramadan until after Eid. Anticipating an increase in container flow in the month of Ramadan until after Idul Fitri, TPS has prepared a truck buffer area on Jl. Laksda M. Natsir, covering an area of 3300 m2 with a maximum capacity of 300 trucks, where the average day in and out of trucks at polling stations can reach 3000-4000 trucks.

TPS Director of Operations, Bambang Hasbullah said that this area would later be used as a buffer area when operational activities (exports / imports) at the TPS experienced a peak in Ramadan until after Idul Fitri this year, in order to avoid queues and disruptions on highways and toll roads.

The buffer area has been used on Friday, April 8, 2020 night, so trucks operating in TPS in connection with export / import activities can be allocated in the TPS area and buffer area without causing disruption in public facilities ref the highway or toll road.

The current growth in this challenging period cannot be separated from TPS support for trade: in the case of empty imports, TPS adds to the free time stacking of containers from 3 days to 7 days, "said Bambang Hasbullah, Saturday (9/5).

He added, the collection of imported containers which previously had to be carried out by Shipping Companies, since March 2020 had been allowed to be taken directly by the Shipper or Forwarding Company. As for export containers, since last March 2020, container entry in the TPS stacking field was given 5 days before the ship docked, 2 days longer than the start time of stacking during normal conditions 3 days before the ship docked.

With this pandemic, all loading and unloading services at the TPS will continue to operate while implementing the Covid-19 deployment prevention protocol in the TPS work environment, from inspection of ships and crew, to checking body temperature, using masks, and other established protocols. .
